| OUR PHILOSOPHY |
| We believe that a foundation of good manners is absolutely crucial to long-term success — socially, academically and professionally. A solid grasp of good manners provides young people with important guidelines, making it possible for them to meet new situations with the poise and confidence that comes from “knowing how it’s done.” Also, statistics show that children with good manners succeed more quickly in school, in making friends and in getting along with others — both adults and peers. |
| At Manhattan Manners, our mission is to promote courteous and considerate behavior toward others — at home, at school and in other environments — and to develop young people’s confidence in their ability to handle new and demanding situations. |

| About Our Classes |
| In order to provide maximum attention for each youngster, classes are small, with a maximum of five students in a class. To assure age-appropriate learning, all classes are organized around the developmental needs of specific age groups. This includes sessions for 3-5 year olds and 6-12 year olds, plus separate classes for 6th-9th grade boys and girls, and a combined class for 10-12th grade boys and girls. Students may repeat sessions as they move through the various levels of expertise. |
| Each class meets for three weeks — an hour session twice each week. For most age groups, one of the sessions is a full-course restaurant meal where students can practice what they have learned. Courses always include food and beverage, with a focus on use of silver, stemware and linens. Private classes are also available. |
| While most sessions involve some aspect of dining, students also work on telephone (and cell) protocol, correspondence, meeting people, speaking with confidence in small groups, and taking part in an interview (for school and employment). Parents are kept apprised of every lesson and are invited to attend a final wrap-up, which includes a question-and-answer session. |
